Tonya Basque is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Freestone Health Clinic in Fairfield. Originally, she started in 2012 as the CNO of the hospital, leaving in March 2017 to finish FNP School and returned to work in the clinic in Oct 2018. “I am a lifelong learner. I strive to learn everything that I can. The reason I continued to go back for additional healthcare degrees was to allow me to help people more and in different roles. I have found that I love taking care of people it is rewarding to me to see people get better” says Tonya. ” I feel like I have been guided to the care of people and every path in my life has led me down that road. My first job at 16 was in the kitchen of a nursing home and I was hooked. I loved hearing stories and talking to the residents and just letting them talk to me.”
Mrs. Basque’s credentials include Tyler Junior College for LVN, University of Phoenix for BSN, MSN and MHA, University of Texas at Arlington for Post Masters Certificate as FNP. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse practitioners.
She and her husband met when they were 14 years old (in Mineola, TX). He had only moved to Texas from Hawaii 3 years before that. They have been married for 23 years as of 2019. The Basques have two sons, Jonathan and Hunter, who are now grown. “We are going to be grandparents for the first time in Jan 2020 and are very excited for our oldest son Jonathan” exclaims Tonya. For fun they love to Ride four wheelers, build things, fish, and in general DIY stuff together. They have lived in Richland in the country for the last 7 years and love the quiet country life. “We love being a part of Freestone Health Clinic and being a part of this community”.
